Wokila sinks Chase Sailors

Sammy Wokila, the Kenya Police forwards scored two goals to steer the policemen to a 4-1 win over Chase Sailors in a Kenya Hockey Union men’s Premier League match at the City Park stadium reports Alvin Wsonga.

He scored the first goal in the 11th minute by beating goalkeeper Collins Asimba whose backline leaked.

Kenya Police continued attacking relentlessly and came close to scoring a second goal towards the end of the first quarter but Asimba denied Calvin Kanu who failed to utilize Victor Odindo’s pass.

The league leaders were nearly caught unawares in the 15th minute when Chase Sailors came knocking with a brilliant build up from the midfield but Ammon Esese missed.

Amos Barkibir squandered a chance in the 19th minute after receiving a pinpoint pass from Kanu but redeemed himself in the 20th minute scoring past Asimba after a Wokila initiative.

Kenya Police goalkeeper Martin Agesa denied George Mutira in the 24th minute from a penalty corner setpiece.

Samuel Oungo put Kenya Police three goals ahead in the 27th minute from a penalty corner.

Chase Sailors dictated pace

Chase Sailors came to the second half on a high dictated the pace. Esese scored the first goal for his side in the 36th minute from a Mutira pass.

Wokila completed his brace in the 37th minute after he deflected a Robert Masibo pass.

After the match, William Oketch the Chase Sailors coach praised his players but noted they failed to utilize many scoring chances.

“The lads played well. The match was actually balanced in the early stages but our main problem was we did not convert our chances. It was evident we had more chances than our opponents,’ said Oketch.

Kenya Police defender Robert Masibo also praised his team's performance saying they need to keep fighting for them to achieve their goal.

‘We need to continue with the fighting spirit. It’s not easy but we just have to do it get the points we still can,” said Masibo.
